Chris Dicken - Portraits

Chris will be communicating some of his thoughts / tips on drawing / painting portraits - a subject many people seem reluctant to try. After a bit of an introduction to portraits, the rest of the evening will be for members to try their hand at it.

The best way to start portraits is producing a black & white drawing, so bring some good paper. You can use cartridge if using pencil or newsprint is good if you prefer charcoal. A further alternative is pastel paper, this can be good for pencil or charcoal or of course pastels if you want to dive into colour. If you'd rather paint bring your usual materials.

Chris will bring some copies of a portrait to try and will also project it on the screen. If you'd rather you can bring your own photo - preferably three-quarter or side on.
