Bruce Mulcahy
Gouache
Born in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire. Having enjoyed painting from an early age, he eventually studied Fine Art at Newcastle University, where he began to paint landscape/seascape on the spot – a practice he still continues as it gives him the chance to react directly to the colours, textures and light of the subject. His work is done mainly in gouache, oil or, occasionally, acrylic.
Bruce has exhibited in many galleries across the country, including Mall Galleries, London; Manchester Academy of Fine Arts; Leeds City Art Gallery and he shows work on an ongoing basis in galleries in Hull and Staithes (where he is one of the Staithes Art School tutors). He visits art groups throughout the year giving demonstrations and workshops, as well as running weekly classes.
Bruce's work is in many private collections in the UK and in 14 other countries, to date. He is a member of several art societies including the Royal Society of Marine Artists (currently RSMA Council member)
